The 4th Annual "Art of Leadership" kicked off with an art salon at the historic Hotel Saint Cecilia in Austin, Texas on March 10, 2015. Locals and VIPs from across Texas attended the public salon, where several photographic works by Los Angeles artist Steven Silverstein were on display. Separately, two other works by Silverstein were a few miles away in the State Capitol's I See You exhibition (Jan 10 - June 10, 2015), where he was also honored in a Senate resolution.
A private, VIP dinner under the stars followed the art salon, with remarks by "Art of Leadership" honoree Senator Rodney Ellis. Each year, the event recognizes a community, civic or business leader who makes a notable impact on the arts. The "Art of Leadership" dinner - with platters of Texas fried chicken - was held in a garden behind the hotel's original 1888 Victorian structure (the Miller-Crockett House) which was once occupied by a descendant of Davy Crockett.
The house is one of five remaining Victorian homes built along the Colorado River near downtown Austin. The name of the hotel, Saint Cecilia, is derived from the patron saint of music and poetry, making it the perfect backdrop for a tribute to creative legacy.
